Chama is easily reached by car and makes for a beautiful drive through Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. From Santa Fe or Albuquerque, travelers can take U.S. Highway 84 north through Española and Abiquiu, following the Rio Chama into the mountains. Visitors coming from Durango, Colorado can head south on U.S. Highway 84 as well.

From Durango or Pagosa Springs, Colorado, visitors follow U.S. Highway 84 south into Chama.

For an unforgettable mountain experience, travelers from Antonito, Colorado can cross the breathtaking Cumbres Pass via Colorado Highway 17, a route that winds through alpine meadows, aspen forests, and sweeping mountain vistas before descending into Chama. This drive mirrors the path of the historic Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, offering visitors a preview of the valley’s beauty even before they arrive.

Bus Services

Several bus companies offer services to Chama. Greyhound and Amtrak are two popular options. Once you arrive in Chama, the festival location is just a short drive or walk away.
